The Blenheim cruised out of the Odious Sector at awe-inspiring speed.
"DISTANCE TO THE CENTRE OF THE SOMBREUS NEBULA: THREE POINT ONE FOUR
SEVEN LIGHT YEARS." The ship announced.
"How long until we arrive?" Panman asked, laying back in his chair
and resting his feet on the weapons console.
"THREE POINT ONE FOUR SEVEN HOURS."
Panman thought for a moment. "That means that we must be travelling at a velocity of one light year
per hour!"
"AFFIRMATIVE."
Panman was a superb mathematician.
Justin wandered onto the bridge. "You really messed up Ken Kasino!"
He said jovially, sitting in the command chair. "Was it really an accident?"
"Of course!" Panman replied. "I would never intentionally
hurt a defenceless being."
"I would,” Justin said, "especially a slit-faced duffer
like him."
"That's what prevents you from graduating to a fully fledged bounty
hunter. You are too emotional." Panman sat up straight. "You must
learn self control. You must be at one with all that surrounds us."
"I don't believe in any of that shit!"
"Do you want to keep on making pizzas and kebabs for Peter the Ace
and myself for ever?"
"Of course not!"
"Then believe in it. Without belief you will fail."
"You're right." Justin said dejectedly. "I'm a loser, a no
hoper!"
"No you're not!" Panman shouted. "Never be negative! Never
doubt your abilities. It could kill you!" Panman had a very serious
look on his face.
Justin gulped. He hadn't been told these things before. "I will never
be negative again!" He announced, standing to attention. "I will
return to my quarters and juggle. It's great for clearing the mind."
He wandered towards the exit.
"Justin?" Panman said spinning round in his black leather chair.
"Yeah?"
"Could you knock me up a couple of cheese toasties on your way past
the galley?"
"Dammit!" Justin said loudly.
